Just a few of the many names that I call my brother.
Jon is one my favorite people in the world. He was diagnosed with Autism at an early age and has a fascinating view of life. He has this simple faith in Jesus that is so refreshing. He sees things black and white and trusts in the goodness of God. He is a prayer warrior. He prays daily for Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, George W. Bush, and one of our old neighbors (“who would hit sticks with his lawn mower and say a few choice words”). He has hopes to start a charter business on Angel Lake and loves wrestling, movies, and fishing.
He is also one of the most hilarious people that I know. He gets riled up after 10pm, especially if my older sister Melissa is present to instigate. He tells redneck jokes, does impressions, and can recite movies and random facts. He comes up with creative plays on words and has us all rolling. If you ever make a late-night visit to my parents home on Angel Lake, you will not be sorry.
He once went on a youth group trip with some of our family friends. While riding in the van, Jon was asked by two pretty youth group girls if he wanted to take their picture. “No, thanks,” was his matter of fact reply. He then turned, put his camera out the window, and took a picture of a dust collector. Hilarious.
Today, my parents and brother came into the store where I work. I have been working at a home furnishings store while I have been in the States. My parents were buying a new table for their dining room. My brother was sitting at the table and he asked us, “Guess who I feel like when I am sittting at the table?” I had no idea. “Who, Jon?” “Saddam Hussein. And all of his advisers could fit at the table, too.” What?!? There is never a dull moment with him around.
I have one of the most amazing families. It is going to be hard to leave again. Well, it’s almost 10pm and you know what that means…
